Errata, Corrections, and Retractions
The International Journal on Social Science and Technology (IJSST) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and accuracy in its published works. While the journal strives to preserve articles in their original form, exceptional circumstances may necessitate corrections, retractions, or rare removals. All such decisions are carefully made in alignment with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines, prioritizing transparency and academic accountability.
Errata (Minor Journal-Originated Errors)
When a journal-introduced error could impact publication records or reputations:
- The article will be corrected
- A separate errata notice will be published
- The notice will be linked to the corrected article
- The errata document will receive official pagination and a DOI
Corrections (Author-Originated Errors)
For errors originating from authors that do not fundamentally compromise article integrity:
- The article will be amended
- A correction notification will be published
- The correction will be linked to the original article
- The correction document will be formally paginated and assigned a DOI
Retractions (Significant Academic Integrity Issues)
Retractions occur in cases of:
- Unreliable research findings
- Misconduct (data fabrication)
- Plagiarism
- Fraudulent authorship
- Compromised peer review
- Ethical standard violations
Retraction process includes:
- Adding a "Retracted Article" watermark
- Prefixing the article title with "Retracted Article"
- Publishing a signed retraction notice
- Linking the retraction notice to the original article
Exceptional Article Removal
In extraordinary circumstances, article removal may occur if:
- Legal defamation is identified
- Court-mandated removal
- Serious health risks are present
When removed, the article's metadata remains visible, with a statement explaining the removal.
